As you are all aware of, Chicago is a candidate city for the 2016 Olympics.
Well, so is Tokyo.
From what I’ve heard, the organizers in Chicago think they’re going to win the bid.
So do the people in Tokyo.
Chicago has been advertising and rallying Chicagoans to “Support the Bid”.
So has Tokyo.
So as Chris keeps saying – “our two homes are rivals”.
We did keep laughing in Tokyo at how much both cities have been working on the Olympics, and neither one has even won the bid yet! I actually don’t have a preference on who gets the bid. I do have to say one thing, that may make me look biased but it’s really just an observation. Tokyo already has 30 million people in it, so I don’t know that an extra couple million people in the city would put a stress on it. I don’t know if you’d notice it as much as you would in Chicago.
Either way, we obviously live in/near two of the greatest cities in the world and in 50 short days we’ll know where the Olympics will be! So for now, I thought I’d share some of the ways Tokyo has been advertising for the Olympics.
Interesting perspective on the influx of people. I think you are aware that Gladdy and I are ardent supporters of Chicago 2016. You know how we love Chicago and we just want to share it with the world. I try to forget how old I will be in 2016. I think the thing we like best about Chicago’s bed is that almost every venue is really in the Chicago area. I think I’m glad that I don’t know what other cities are planning because it’s just easier to believe that our bid is the best. The 2016 volunteer that we met at the Glenview parade said that Madrid’s bid is pretty good too. I wonder if I will cry if we don’t get it.
The logo is pretty cute. It kind of reminds me of a good bridesmaide’s dress – you can wear it for any occasion – though I am not sure that is a good thing or the Olympics.
I think I would be frustrated if the Olympics come to Chicago because I would be soooo close to something I love and not able to attend – though who knows, but 2016 we might be millionaires 🙂
Have a good day!
